The world of label and package printing for the consumer, retail and industrial sectors, will almost certainly undergo quite significant change over the next five or more years, with an ever-growing list of fundamental drivers of change creating an industry far different to anything seen to-date, and changing at a rate that has never ever been exceeded in the past 500 years.
Much of the rapid change impacting on the industry is being driven by things outside of the control of the actual label and package printers themselves, such as globalization, consolidation, e-commerce, legislation, changing brand owner requirements, new ways of doing business, cloud computing and the Internet of Things (IoT), counterfeiting and piracy, widespread digitization, consumer trends in shopping and social networking, internet sales and the rise of private and craft brands.
